Describe the controls over secretion of minero- and gluco-corticoids

What will be an ideal response?

The zona glomerulosa makes mineralocorticoids, mainly aldosterone, which causes Na+ reabsorption and K+ secretion by targeting the distal tubules of the kidney. Aldosterone release is controlled by the renin-angiotensin system or by direct activation of the adrenal cortex by elevated K+ levels. The zona fasciculata makes glucocorticoids, primarily cortisol. It plays a major role in glucose metabolism, elevating blood glucose levels as well influencing protein and lipid metabolism. Its release is controlled by the hypothalamic-anterior pituitary axis through the release of CRH and ACTH, respectively.
