How can you determine the power factor of a system?

What will be an ideal response?

There are several ways of determining the power factor of an entire plant, a single feeder, or even a branch circuit. The power factor can be determined by the use of:

1.A power factor meter
2.A kilovarmeter and kilowattmeter
3.Wattmeters or kilowattmeters in combination with voltmeters and ammeters
The last of the three methods listed is the most convenient one in terms of the connections to be made. However, the use of a permanently connected kilovarmeter is also convenient. When the power factor of the plant is 1.0 (unity), the kilovarmeter reads zero.
