One source is found in the journal Circulation, authored by Lincoff , et al. 90 (4): 2070. (1994). Drug-coated stents can be loaded with various drugs and can be shown to prevent tissue overgrowth or restenosis.
Disadvantages are that positive results (prevention of restenosis) vary.
