What is a semantic distraction? Provide an example

What will be an ideal response?

A semantic distraction is when a listener is confused by either the meaning of a word
the listener has never seen or heard, a word the listener has seen in printed form but never
heard spoken out loud, or a word the speaker is mispronouncing. An example would when
President Bush famously declared, "They misunderestimated me." This caused a national
semantic distraction and further reinforced preoccupation with President Bush's speaking
style.
