Explain the strengths and weaknesses of the following community relations programs: tours and demonstrations, ride-along, college internships and crime-prevention programs

What will be an ideal response?

A major problem is that these types of programs are almost never evaluated empirically for their impact on the public and crime. What we have left is best guesses and the opinion of media and police officials. The real answer to this question is no one knows and most police departments do not want to know. College interns provide help and recruitment for police departments from our most educated citizens. Ride along programs have major security and safety issues. Tours and demonstrations seem to be harmless and good for morale of the citizens. Crime prevention programs have a positive citizen response and may or may not prevent any crime.
