Some people disagree with the IPCC findings.  What are the motivations of these people and how has this criticism strengthened the science?

What will be an ideal response?

Scientific knowledge advances through vigorous debate and pressure to improve evidence and models.  Those opposed to the findings actually strengthen the scientific process by challenging the scientists involved to use the best data and models. Scientists, by nature, are cautious and do not want to make projections or release findings that are not solidly supported.  As a result, they tend to underestimate the rate and effects of climate change.  Some of the people that dispute the veracity of climate change science also have a financial interest in maintaining the status quo.
