Why are porosity and permeability important to groundwater? What will be an ideal response?
Porosity determines the amount of groundwater that earth materials can hold. Permeability is the
ability of those materials to transmit fluids. If a rock has high porosity but low permeability, it contains
a great deal of water, but that water cannot be extracted.
