The two types of change are proactive and reactive. In proactive change, managers anticipate and plan for change, based on anticipating possible or expected problems or opportunities. In reactive change, managers make changes in response to problems or opportunities as they arise. Proactive change is better, as in reactive change there is usually less time to get all the information and resources needed to manage the change, and serious mistakes can be made.
