Answer: For plants to live on land adaptations are required. For example, cuticles. Cuticles seal off plants from the water. This may help to prevent water loss. It can also prevent gases from either entering or leaving. Stomata's are another example. They often open and close depending on the environment and its conditions. When the weather is hot, the stomata will keep closed in order to keep the plants water inside. A plants embryo must also become adaptive. After fertilization, the embryo must develop within the female parts. This is actually the first feature that separated plants from algae. Algae actually release their embryo within water at this point. The fifth feature is vascular tissue. This tissue is mainly there for transport of water and nutrients that are on the land. There are two types of vascular tissue: xylem and phloem. Xylem transports water and phloem transports sugars. Animals have different adaptations. The first development is the amnion cavity. This is developed in order to prevent eggs from drying out. There is also the development of limbs. This is to participate in things like walking. The development of lungs is extremely important. Lungs allow for oxygen to be taken into the body and for carbon dioxide to come out. Animals also develop a mechanism for regulating body temperature. This is important when it comes to enzymes. If the body is too hot, the enzymes will denature. Once they have become denatured they will loose their function. On the other hand, if they become too cold, the enzymes will slow down. Eventually, the enzymes will stop working. Lastly, there is an adaptation to prevent harming offspring from predators. This is due to the internal development.
