Describe the differences between true, false, and floating ribs

What will be an ideal response?

The upper seven ribs are called true ribs because they attach anteriorly to the sternum via costal cartilage; ribs 8, 9, and 10 are called the false ribs because they have indirect attachments to costal cartilage; ribs 11 and 12 are called floating ribs because they lack any distal attachments and "float" in soft tissue.
