What is LMTD?

What will be an ideal response?

LMTD is the abbreviation for the Log Mean Temperature Difference which
quantifies the difference in temperature between a hot fluid and cold fluid in a
heat exchanger. The LMTD accounts for the fact that this temperature
difference varies throughout the heat exchanger. This is probably the closest
that can be described in a hat exchanger and even then there need to be
correction factors for specific arrangements of heat exchangers.
