Why do sociologists see mass media as paradoxical?
What will be an ideal response?
Ans: The function of the media is seen as paradoxical for several reasons. Firstly, mass media has its benefits because it allows for information to be transmitted through newspapers, news shows, radio, and online articles. Mass media is very powerful in that it influences what people think and how they should behave as citizens so that people are informed on what is happening or occurring. On the other hand, mass media promotes nonengagement in society, meaning people are no longer communicating in person or doing things in person, since communication and gathering information can happen with technology. Furthermore, mass media can be a distraction for individuals.
