What is the difference between the PACER system and the CM/ECF system?
What will be an ideal response?
PACER, or Public Access to Court Electronic Records, provides a national index for federal appellate, district, and bankruptcy cases that is updated each night to allow a nation-wide search for parties involved in federal litigation. In contrast, The Case Management/Electronic Case Files (CM/ECF) is the companion to the PACER website for electronic filing in the federal courts. The legal team prepares the documents on its own computer system, and then uploads the files to the court using the CM/ECF system.
