What will be an ideal response?
Began in England in the late seventies with bands like Throbbing Gristle and Cabaret Voltaire. Influenced by Punk, but Industrialists believed that life was too controlled. Also influenced by the novel Naked Lunch and sadomasochism. Musical instruments were chosen for their ability to make noise, including using power tools and homemade instruments. Later bands such as Ministry and Nine Inch Nails popularized Industrial Rock by including heavy beats and synthesizers.
