Describe three of the ten recommendations that George Gazda made regarding the screening of group members

What will be an ideal response?

George Gazda (1989) made some interesting screening recommendations that also serve to establish ground rules for prospective group members. He suggested providing group candidates with the following guidelines as part of the screening:
1 . Before you attend the first group session, you should establish personal goals.
You will be able to refine and clarify these goals as the group progresses.
2 . Whenever you contribute during a group session, you should be as honest and
straightforward about yourself as possible. Success and lack of success with
respect to aspects of your behavior may be important for you to discuss.
3 . Listen carefully when other members of the group are contributing, and try to
communicate nonjudgmental understanding and caring.
4 . Do not discuss any information about other group members outside the group.
5 . Attend all sessions, and arrive on time.
6 . Respect your counselor’s right to suggest that you terminate participation in the
group if the counselor believes it is best for you and best for the group.
7 . Respect the rule that no one group member can control the group and that group
decisions are made by consensus.
8 . Let the group counselor know if someone in your group poses a barrier to your
open participation as a member of the group due to a prior relationship.
9 . If you request an individual meeting with your group counselor, recognize that
you may be asked to share the content of the discussion with the full group.
10 . Be aware of the amount and schedule of fees for membership in the group prior to
committing to group participation.
