How did economic prosperity affect the Christian church and different monastic orders?
What will be an ideal response?
Answer: Benefiting from the cerealization of church lands, clerical leaders often had their own incomes and considerable independence. Many of the laity called for an end to simony, and for clerical celibacy. Reformers founded new monastic orders, each demanding greater sacrifices from its members. During the twelfth century, the pope granted permission for the founding of several begging orders, including the Franciscans and the Dominicans. After undergoing many reforms, the church became one of the most vibrant institutions in medieval Europe.
