What will be an ideal response?

Both iconic and echoic memories are sensory memories that come directly from your senses. Iconic memories are visual traces of a sight, and this information is held for just under a second. Echoic memories are auditory traces that can last in your memory for up to several seconds. Sensory memory like iconic and echoic memories are important because it allows you to keep track of the world around you from moment to moment.
