Describe the steps to teaching problem-solving skills

What will be an ideal response?

Problem solving begins with an identifiable, specific problem. Everyone has to agree that there is a problem, and what it is, exactly. They need to decide who the cause of the problem is, how big a deal it is, and how much time might be needed to solve the problem. This is followed by Clearly defining the problem by narrowing down the problem area to one thing that is solvable (for example, a good definition of a problem would not be that someone is "mean;" rather, one should specify that the person has been gossiping about another person, or some other specific behavior). It does no good to talk about and define problems unless you are actually willing to generate realistic solutions to the problem. Initially, students should be encouraged to generate as many possible solutions as possible
