Compare and contrast order-getters and order-takers. What types of sales roles fit into these categories?

What will be an ideal response?

Whether they sell directly to customers or seek to secure new distribution intermediaries, all new-business salespeople may be accurately described as order-getters, in that they work to secure new customers. Two types of order-getters are new-business salespeople who find new customers; and channel salespeople who look to win, maintain, and expand relationships with channel partners.

In contrast to new-business salespeople, order-taker salespeople are sales representatives who primarily process orders that a customer initiates. They are most commonly found within retail and inbound call-center settings. Examples are the salesperson helping you find a new interview suit at the department store and the Lands' End call-center employee assisting you with the purchase of a new winter coat. Another typical order-taker sales role is delivery salespeople, also sometimes known as a route salespeople. As the name implies, the chief role of the delivery salesperson is product delivery.
