Describe how alleles work in humans?

What will be an ideal response?

Within each person are thousands of alleles. Some are part of a dominant/recessive pair just as in Mendel's peas. This explains why you may show many of the traits you see in your parents, but also it shows why you may show some traits seen in your grandparents but not in your parents.
