One of the main interventions for older adults is to prevent social isolation. The social worker can help the older person identify potential social supports. Some community agencies can provide companion services or friendly visitors. The social work assessment can determine of the person is depressed, anxious or in pain of which may interfere in the persons independence and vulnerability to mistreatment. Modifying the environment with assistive devices may enhance a person’s physical independence as well.
