Thinking family, is the recognition that the responsibilities of caregiving require a network of individuals beyond the immediate family structure.

It refers to the inclusion of significant people to the older adult outside the immediate or biologic family structures. This may include extended family, friends, members of the person’s faith community, neighbors.
