Why is Graves’ disease dangerous? What will be an ideal response?

At first blush, the idea of having extra energy and racing metabolism may seem tempting to many of
us, and the excess of thyroid hormone that is associated with Graves’ disease can provide this.
However, running your body this ‘fast’ will also cause it to wear out more quickly. You might liken it
to a regular car versus a race car. Driven at low speeds, your car engine will likely function for more
than 100 000 miles. But a race car at high speeds only lasts a few hundred miles. Thus, it is critical to
slow the body down to assure a long and healthy life.
