What is empowerment of employees and why is it so important in today's workplace?
What will be an ideal response?
Answers should contain the following discussion points:
Empowerment is broader than supervising or delegating, and is concerned about the overall culture of an organization. Empowerment involves pushing decision making down to the lowest possible level and letting them manage themselves and make decisions. Empowerment involves providing employees with the principles and values of the organization, along with the desired outcomes and encouraging them to make decisions and respond to situations that are consistent with accepted principles and values. Contemporary correctional staff are professional, experienced, trained, and educated, and does not accept orders without wanting to know why. They require understanding how the organization developed specified responses to situations. Staff are more committed to an organization outcome or procedure that they are involved in creating.
