Please discuss the authors stance on prevention. Summarize their conclusions.

What will be an ideal response?

The authors outline that from early on, awareness of CSA prevention programs and materials has been directed at children. Comprehensive programs are often delivered in school and prepare children to identify, resist, or escape and disclose sexual abuse. Most children (67%) have been in a school-based abuse or victimization program and those who have experienced a comprehensive program have scored better on prevention concepts. Results indicate that those who had a more comprehensive program self-identify as more effective in keeping themselves safe, minimizing hard, and more likely to disclose. The authors underscore that while putting the onus on children to protect themselves is not idea, there is no science that points toward prevention of perpetration. The authors maintain that there are some good ideas for teaching children to be more resistant to CSA and that perpetration prevention is critical and complex.
