What will be an ideal response?
During the past four decades, psychotherapy has witnessed dramatic increases in the numbers of psychotherapies. Since the 1960s, the number of psychotherapy schools and theories has grown approximately 600% (Hubble, Duncan, & Miller, 1999). In 1966, about 36 distinct systems of psychotherapy were identified. In 1976, Parloff reported more than 130 therapies. Currently it is estimated that there are now more than 250 therapy models, and the techniques associated with these models exceed 400 (Wampold, 2001).
