Explain what nested tables are, and how they are used.

What will be an ideal response?

Inserting another table inside a cell within another table creates what is called a nested table. Nested tables can be used effectively when you want parts of your table data to contain both visible and invisible borders. For example, you can nest a table with red borders inside a table with invisible borders. The process of creating a nested table is similar to the one used to add a new row or column to a table. Simply click to place the insertion point inside the cell where you want the nested table to appear, click Insert on the Menu bar, then click Table, or click the Table button on the Insert panel. A nested table is separate from the original table so you can format it however you wish. The more nested tables you add, however, the more complicated the coding becomes, making it challenging to select and edit each table. You may be able to achieve the same results by adding rows and columns or splitting cells instead of inserting a nested table.
