Explain how skin helps to thermally regulate body temperature


When body temperature rises, the blood vessels beneath your epidermis are dilated and filled with blood, your skin reddens, and the surface of your skin is warm and wet due the excess heat in the blood. As the moisture evaporates, the excess heat evaporates with it, and your skin cools. If your body temperature then falls below normal, sensible perspiration stops, blood flow to the skin is reduced, and the skin surfaces cools and dries, releasing little heat into the environment.
