Ans: 1. Mass mobilization. This describes temporary movements in which large numbers of people are amassed to bring attention to particular societal issues or problems. Dramatic examples of this strategy occurred in Egypt and Tunisia in 2011, where the populace protested and ousted its leaders. Other examples include rallies like the “Million Mom March” in 2000, which brought attention to the need for tighter restrictions on handguns.
2. Social action. Social action strives to create powerful organizations at the community level, often through the development and activities of grassroots organizations. Examples would include students forming coalitions to protest tuition increases or community residents organizing to improve the conditions in their neighborhood. Tactics used in social action efforts are often referred to as activism.
3. Citizen participation. This strategy aims to get citizens involved in their communities, for example, by serving as representatives on community panels and boards of government agencies so that they have political influence and can participate in changing public policy.
4. Public advocacy. This usually involves lobbying or applying pressure on public officials to pass laws or influence social policies. ?
