Explain ways to prevent syncope
What will be an ideal response?
When signs and symptoms of presyncope are evident, stop dental treatment and place the patient in the Trendelenburg position; also, remove distressing stimuli. The easiest way to prevent syncope from occurring in the first place is to minimize fear by making the patient comfortable (talk with the patient; provide a bright, cheery atmosphere; and remove unpleasant sounds and smells) and/or premedicating the patient. Syncope can also be prevented by maintaining a thorough, updated health history.
