Explain the difference between indeterminate and determinate sentencing

What will be an ideal response?

With indeterminate sentencing, a judge imposes a minimum period of incarceration. If the inmate takes advantage of treatment and educational opportunities and shows growth and rehabilitation, a parole board can deem that inmate eligible to leave prison after completing the minimum amount of time. This type of sentencing is a component of the rehabilitation theology.

Determinate sentencing is stricter and more severe.
In this type of sentencing, a judge imposes a fixed term of incarceration that must be heeded.
This type of sentencing is more common under a punishment theology and is an important component of the "get-tough" laws.
