Describe how self-concept and self-esteem are different

Answers should reflect an understanding of self-concept as "the sum total of a person's knowledge and understanding of his or her self", and of self-esteem as "a person's overall self-appraisal of his or her worth." Put simply, self-concept is who we think we are, and self-esteem is how much we value that person. This difference may explain why people who seem to have desirable characteristics (i. e., talented singer, lots of money) can still have low self-esteem (i. e., "I'd rather be handsome and well-liked.").
