What is the affinity laws?
What will be an ideal response?
The principles that demonstrate the affect of motor speed on pump and fan flow, pressure, and horsepower are defined by the affinity laws. The affinity laws show that for variable torque loads, if the motor can be slowed when the load decreases, energy can be saved. The affinity laws state:
1. Flow (air, liquid, etc.) produced by the motor is proportional to the motor speed.
2. Pressure produced by the motor is proportional to the motor speed squared.
3. Horsepower (power) required by the motor is proportional to the motor speed cubed.
