Define accommodation and give an example.
What will be an ideal response?
Accommodation is the cognitive process of changing a scheme to adapt to new information. Examples will vary. One example is a child that calls a plane a "birdie" because it is flying in the sky, just as birds do. However, when the child is corrected by a parent and taught the new word airplane, the child starts to point out birds and planes, differentiating between the two.
