CMC can create a diverse community by connecting people with common interests from all over the world. Without geographic and temporal issues to deal with, people can share their lives and experiences in real time, uninhibited in ways previously unimagined. Diversity within the community is a definite benefit of creating an online community. One drawback, however, is the possibility of losing oneself in the virtuality of cyberspace and becoming disconnected from reality.
