Explain how research reports should utilize person and voice.
What will be an ideal response?
Ans: Answer would ideally include: Typically, qualitative researchers use first person in an active voice so as to “capture individuals’ thoughts, feelings, or interpretations of meaning and process.” On the other hand, quantitative researchers use third person “as an indication of objectivity incorporated into quantitative studies.” However, quantitative researchers should use active voice in the same way as qualitative researchers. As the text aptly states, “The active voice tends to be a more reader-friendly form of writing.”
