Impromptu: Advantages are spontaneity and directness; disadvantages include no
advance preparation, must think on feet, no time to analyze audience, inappropriate

confidence, opportunity to be precise and detailed, nothing left out or forgotten;
disadvantages include reduction of eye contact, speech seems read, lacks spontaneity,
difficulty changing language or content in response to audience. Memorized:
Advantages are speaker security, opportunity for eye contact, nothing is left out or
forgotten; disadvantages are that it takes a long time to memorize a speech, takes skill to

introduction, body and conclusion; relaxed, spontaneous style; disadvantage is that it
