How do children suffer because of divorce?

What will be an ideal response?

Children often suffer when a divorce occurs, even if the divorce is necessary. Many children of divorce have strong emotional problems, do less well in school, and are more prone to delinquency and other kinds of behavior problems. This is not to say that single parents cannot provide the necessary environment for good child rearing; they can and some do. However, the research does suggest that children are often worse off when raised by one parent rather than two. The difficulties of children in single-parent families are due to three factors: low income, inadequate parental guidance, and less access to community resources.
