In the past, traditional telephone service users experienced denied access when making a phone call during an event of national significance taking place, and millions of users were trying to place calls at the same time. An advantage of packet-switched services is that such communications may be delayed, but they will not be denied. Another advantage of packet-switched services is that communications can be prioritized. This means that packets can be tagged for high-priority delivery. Prioritization provides much greater control over organizational communication needs.
