What is a wiki? How can wikis contribute to an MPR effort? What are the pitfalls of a wiki?

A wiki is an online repository for content of various sorts that participants in the wiki community can edit, add to, and update. The key to a wiki's success is its ability to foster group collaboration around assembling content. So, wikis can be productive tools for MPR professionals promoting businesses, especially when those promotions relate to specific topics that wiki contributors are devoting their time to. Completely open collaboration, however, poses the threat that misleading and erroneous information can be introduced into a wiki entry and consequently reflect poorly on the wiki and its participants.
