Explain the difference between maintenance work and conversational dominance

What will be an ideal response?

Women are much more likely than men to do conversational "maintenance work." Conversational maintenance work involves asking questions that encourage conversation. Compared with women, men's speech often reflects conversational dominance, such as speaking more frequently and for longer periods of time. Men also show dominance by interrupting others, reinterpreting the speaker's meaning, or rerouting the conversation. They tend to express themselves in assertive, often absolutist, ways.
