It is difficult to assess with 100 percent accuracy everything that students actually learn as a result of being taught. The ultimate purpose of teaching is to lead the student to a greater understanding of the things and ideas of this world. Second, although the outcomes of teaching may be specified with exacting detail, one of the realities of teaching is that some of what students learn may be beyond direct measurement. Third, it is difficult to equate all learning with a numeric test score.
