VMware Converter is a powerful tool that can be used to convert an existing physical computer to a VM or used to convert virtual machines created with other virtualization software to VMware-formatted machines. To convert a physical computer to a virtual machine, click the Virtualize a Physical Machine option from the File menu and then download and install VMware Converter as a separate standalone product. You can use this feature to convert an existing machine, such as a server, to a virtual machine without having to reinstall the server's OS and all the applications and features.
