Your topic for a speech to graduating seniors focuses on the job opportunities, pay scales, and benefits

a typical graduate from the university could expect to receive over the first two years of employment.

Outline a research plan you would use to gather the needed information.
What will be an ideal response?

The answers to this question may vary. However, a typical answer may be as follows:

Since my topic and main points are already chosen, the next thing I need to figure out is what information
do I need? Where am I most likely to find it? How can I obtain this information? Lastly, I need to set
some goals as far as timeframe to have my speech completed is concerned. I would need information on what the job market forecasts are, average entry-level salaries for certain
positions, and what benefits and perks one may expect. This information can be found in newspaper and
magazine articles, like Forbes or Money magazine. It can be obtained using search engines or library
databases such as InfoTrac Onefile. Another option could be interviewing a recent graduate to see what
their experiences have been. The final component of my action plan is preparing a timetable for
constructing my speech to make sure I am able to get everything completed in a timely manner.
