Identify at least four factors of parenting impacting the oral language development of socioeconomically disadvantaged children and discuss the implications as they apply to teaching

What will be an ideal response?

Answer: Five factors impacting oral language development include 1) the variety of words used, 2) positive feedback tone, 3) elaboration on topics, 4) giving children choices as they engage in verbal interactions, and 5) listening to and responding to the children. Given this type of background, students enter school with considerably different levels of oral language. How teachers approach these disparities impacts students, as research suggests these differences alone do not impact school success.
