Explain the procedure for passing a zoning regulation.

What will be an ideal response?

Prior to the passage of any zoning regulation, due process dictates that the public receive notice of the proposed ordinance and be given an opportunity to voice approval or objections at a public hearing. Notice typically is given through publication in general and legal newspapers. Often the notice will provide the text of the proposed ordinance as well as the time and date upon which the hearing will take place. Affected property owners may demand that the zoning board present evidence that the ordinance is valid. Most ordinances provide certain procedures to be followed should a property owner wish to appeal the enforcement of a zoning decision.
