Ans: For example, Chinese Americans found work on the transcontinental railroad; resentment of Asian Americans quickly built due to limited job opportunities; and legislation limiting or banning immigration ensued, it was finally repealed in 1943. Japanese Americans found work in agriculture, farming, and on railroads; their success led to resentment and hostility; the Japanese Internment. Filipino Americans: U.S. protectorate after the U.S. bought it from Spain. In 1909 several hundred Filipino workers were recruited to Hawaii to labor on the plantations; most significant arrival of Filipinos began in 1965 with the Immigration Reform Act which allowed 32,000 Filipinos, mostly highly skilled professionals, to enter the country.
