What is the basis for classifying the fibers and tracts of cerebral white matter? List and define each of the three types

What will be an ideal response

The fibers and tracts are classified according to the direction in which they run. Association fibers connect different parts of the same hemisphere. Commissural fibers connect corresponding gray areas of the two hemispheres. Projection fibers either enter the cerebral cortex from the lower brain or cord or descend from the cortex to lower areas.
