What are the three Bretton Woods institutions, and what are their primary objectives and means of meeting these objectives?

What will be an ideal response?

Varies. The three Bretton Woods institutions include the International Monetary Fund, the International Bank for Reconstruction and Development (or World Bank), and the World Trade Organization. First, the primary objective of the IMF is to encourage sound domestic economic policies to support global growth and economic stability, which it does through annual surveillance studies of member countries’ policies and provision of technical assistance to improve fiscal, monetary, exchange rate, banking, and statistical capabilities. Second, the primary objective of the World Bank is to promote development and alleviate poverty, which it does through making loans for development purposes. Third, the primary objective of the World Trade Organization is to oversee multilateral trade negotiations, which it does through critiques of member countries’ trade policies and resolution of trade disputes.
