What is calmodulin, and what role does it play in signal transduction? What will be an ideal response?

Calmodium is an important Ca+2 binding protein. When calcium gates open in the plasma
membrane or the cytoplasm, the Ca+2 concentration rises in the cytosol. When calcium ions
bind to a calmodium molecule, the molecule changes shape and activates certain enzymes
including protein kinases and phosphatases.
